Chico obtained his geology degree from University of Brasília, 1982, and explored for gold deposits in Brazil, with Gencor, from South Africa. In 1997 he joined IAMGOLD as exploration Manager for Argentina. Between 2007 and 2016 he led Gold Fields exploration programs in South America, including the development of the Chucapaca (now San Gabriel) Au (Cu) deposit in Peru and the discovery and development of the Salares Norte gold-silver deposit in northern Chile. Chico is currently the VP Business Development for King Copper Discovery Corp. Chico has served the Society of Economic Geologists (SEG) as VP South America (2009-2011), Councillor (2013-2015) and President (2022).
