The Gold Symposium started in 1994 in order to show the opportunities provided by the mining activities in Peru, in particular as an investment destination for the world.

Due to the success of its first edition, the Gold Committee of the SNMPE decided to continue holding it every two years, with the support of the Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines, the World Gold Council, the Silver Institute, and with the sponsorship of prestigious companies.
